What is a Cacao Nib?
Cacao nibs are simply roasted and dried pieces of brown cacao beans. Coincidentally for us at Javazen, they look almost identical to coffee beans in color, size, and shape. Unlike coffee beans, however, cacao nibs are comparatively soft and can be eaten raw.
Cacao contains over 300 active compounds making it one of the most nutrient-dense superfoods known to man. One such compound, theobromine, is a relative of caffeine but is a much more gentle stimulant. Theobromine in cacao acts as a vasodilator to counteract the vasoconstriction caused by caffeine. This means no jitters!
When brewing cacao with coffee, healthy and savory oils are extracted which results in a smooth and balanced flavor so that you don’t need any cream or sugars.
Cacao is a great source of antioxidants and magnesium.
