Goji Berry

Goji is the superfood that gives antioxidants to the Javazen Relax blend

What is a Goji Berry?

Goji, also known as the wolfberry, is a small, fiery red superfood berry that grows on shrubs. It is widely cultivated and consumed throughout Western Asia, specifically in China and throughout the Himalayan regions of Mongolia and Tibet. However, there are a few other locations in various places-like Arizona-where this superfood berry grows wild and free on bushes in the hot, lowland desert region. At Javazen, we source our goji berries from the Himalayas.

Health benefits of Goji

Goji gives our body temple a complete source of protein with eighteen amino acids. It’s one of the highest antioxidant foods on the planet as well as one of the highest sources of betaine of any food in the world. Betaine is a phytonutrient which protects our DNA, detoxifies the liver, and calms the nervous system.

What do Goji berries taste like?

The goji berry is a dry, chewy berry often described as a cross between a raspberry and a cranberry. It is pleasing to most every palate; this is rare when it comes to medicinal plant superfoods, most of which are quite bitter and not so fun for the taste buds. Nonetheless, the goji berry is one of our very favorite superfood ingredients and it contributes tremendously to our caffeine-free blend, Javazen Relax.

Fun Fact: Did you know that goji berries have fifteen times the amount of iron as spinach?
